Material performance
Calcium chloride, silicone, silica, polycraft pigment, room conditions.
The calcium chloride in the mixture liquefies over time depending on the room conditions, and the container produces its own liquid to contain.
Exhibited at In Days of Heatwave II: Among the Hydrocommons curated by Emre Ataman and Oli Mardon, between 18-21 October 2024.
The main material, calcium chloride, which collects humidity from the air and transforms into a chemically different liquid, akin to salted water. Around this material, I explore the qualities of salted water and the self-destructive nature of calcium chloride, which is highly reactive to environmental factors, including the breaths and sweat of people.
