Eye Study
2026
Copper dust mixed Jesmonite AC100, metal mesh, calcium chloride, ammonium, vinegar, environmental variables.
The work takes the eye motif as a small material study. Set against a measured metal grid, a copper-loaded form is held between controlled structure and unstable transformation.
Through calcium chloride, vinegar, ammonium, and environmental exposure, the surface oxidises, shifts from copper to blue, and begins to produce liquid. This liquid stains and rusts the mesh itself, drawing the surrounding metal from grey towards copper tones. The work approaches the eye not only as an image, but as a small site of observation: held, watched, and still unfolding.
